What does "Hygge" mean to me?

Hygge

• Also called 'Huga', 'Huggeo' or 'Hug' from tune to time, it carries a number of different meanings, including coziness, intimacy, warmth and comfort.
• This word characteristically describes the lifestyle of the Danish.

With the multiple pronunciations and meanings, the essence of 'Hygge' is comprised of the elements that bring happiness to the Danish people. Hygge is not automatically translated into happiness but Hygge represents happiness. Different expressions, same Happy!
People use a variety of words to symbolized their happiness.

 

Gezelligheid

• Derived from the Dutch work "Gezel" that means a companion, friend or a person you spend your time with, it refers to the state of mind that is comforable as if you were home wherever you are or whatever you do as part of the heart of Dutch culture.
• A feeling of comfort that melts away frozen toes or frustration, a feeling of happiness you have while sitting by the side and enjoying hot coffee and cold beer.
